SYNERPLUS ZINC BOND 100

(GLAVANIZING SPRAY)
Galvanizing Spray is a zinc-rich coating that provides long-lasting protection to metal surfaces through the process of cold galvanizing. Designed to prevent rust and corrosion on ferrous metals, it creates a highly durable, protective layer that mimics the electrochemical properties of hot-dip galvanization. This spray is particularly effective for touch-up work on galvanized surfaces, as well as for coating bare metals in industrial, automotive, and marine applications.

Key Features

  • High Zinc Content: This spray contains a high percentage of pure zinc (typically between 90-95% in the dry film), which forms a sacrificial barrier on the metal surface. The zinc particles provide cathodic protection, meaning they will corrode preferentially, protecting the base metal underneath from rust and oxidation.
  • Cold Galvanizing Process: Unlike hot-dip galvanization, which requires submerging metal parts in molten zinc, this spray offers cold galvanization through a simple application process. The zinc in the spray bonds electrochemically to the metal surface, providing similar protective benefits without the need for heat treatment.
  • Excellent Corrosion Resistance: The zinc-rich formulation creates a tough, self-healing barrier that resists moisture, salt spray, and harsh environmental conditions. This makes it ideal for protecting metal components in marine environments, industrial machinery, automotive parts, and any outdoor structures exposed to the elements.
  • Fast Drying: Galvanizing Spray dries quickly to form a hard, durable coating that is touch-dry in 15-30 minutes, depending on ambient conditions. This rapid drying time allows for faster project completion and minimizes downtime when performing repairs or protective coating tasks.
  • Superior Adhesion: The advanced formulation of the spray ensures excellent adhesion to clean metal surfaces, as well as compatibility with previously galvanized materials. The zinc particles create a tight bond with the underlying substrate, preventing peeling, flaking, or blistering over time.
  • Temperature Resistance: Once cured, the coating can withstand high temperatures up to 200°C (392°F), making it suitable for use on surfaces that experience moderate heat exposure, such as exhaust components, industrial equipment, and machinery.
  • Self-Healing Properties: The zinc particles in the coating provide self-healing properties, meaning that small scratches or abrasions will be filled by adjacent zinc particles. This ensures that the protection remains continuous even after minor surface damage.
  • Paintable and Weldable: The dry film of the Galvanizing Spray can be over-coated with paints and other coatings, providing additional protection or color customization. Additionally, it remains conductive, allowing welding without losing the protective properties around the weld area.”

Technical Benefits

  • Cathodic Protection: The sacrificial zinc in the coating acts as an anode, meaning it corrodes preferentially to the underlying metal. This process, known as cathodic protection, prevents rust from forming on the substrate by diverting corrosion to the zinc particles in the spray.
  • Anti-Corrosive Zinc Layer: The zinc layer forms a dense, impenetrable barrier that prevents moisture, air, and corrosive agents from reaching the underlying metal. This drastically slows the corrosion process and ensures long-term durability in extreme environments.
  • Easy to Apply: The spray can be applied directly to bare or prepared metal surfaces without the need for special equipment or processes. This makes it suitable for both professional and DIY applications, particularly in maintenance and repair settings.
  • Long-Lasting Protection: Galvanizing Spray provides years of protection against rust and corrosion, significantly extending the lifespan of metal structures and components. Its effectiveness rivals that of hot-dip galvanization in many applications.
  • Rust Repair and Touch-Up: The product is ideal for repairing areas of rust damage or worn galvanization on pre-galvanized surfaces. Its easy application allows it to restore corrosion protection in small, hard-to-reach areas, such as weld seams, bolts, and edges.
  • Multi-Surface Compatibility: While primarily designed for ferrous metals, Galvanizing Spray can also be used on other metal surfaces, including aluminum and steel, providing them with corrosion resistance and improving their longevity.”

Application Instructions

  • Surface Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from rust, grease, oil, and other contaminants. For optimal adhesion, use a wire brush or sandpaper to remove loose rust or previous coatings. If applying to a previously galvanized surface, ensure all damaged areas are cleaned thoroughly.
  • Application: Shake the can vigorously for at least 2 minutes before use. Spray from a distance of 10-12 inches, applying light, even coats in a sweeping motion. Multiple thin layers are preferable to a single thick coat. Allow each coat to dry for 10-15 minutes before applying the next.
  • Drying and Curing: The coating will be touch-dry in approximately 15-30 minutes, depending on temperature and humidity. For full curing and optimal corrosion protection, allow the coating to dry for 24 hours before exposing the surface to harsh environments or overcoating.
  • Overcoating and Painting: If desired, once the Galvanizing Spray has fully cured, it can be top-coated with compatible paints for aesthetic purposes or added protection. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before applying the top coat.
  • Maintenance and Reapplication: Periodically inspect coated surfaces for any signs of wear, rust, or damage. If necessary, clean and touch up the affected areas to maintain full protection.”

Safety Precautions

  • Ventilation: Use in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhalation of fumes. The product contains volatile solvents that can be harmful if inhaled in large quantities.
  • Protective Gear: Always wear gloves, safety goggles, and a mask when applying the product. Avoid direct skin contact with the spray.
  • Flammability: Keep away from open flames, sparks, and other sources of ignition during application and drying. The solvents in the spray are flammable and should be handled with caution.”
